Dolfinarium
In 1995 and 1996 Walas was part of the team that created De Lagune (The Lagoon) at the occasion of that redevelopedment of Dolfinarium Harderwijk in The Netherlands.
It was an significant expansion of the existing theme park with a remarkable perception of mimicking a natural environment for the dolphins and other inhabitants of the new Lagune. Development of the theme, the practical implementation, de underwater experience and the multi-media attractions were all of very high standard. The owner of the time, Leisureplan, strived for an ambitious level of sincerity and authenticity. That’s why the theme was developed and produced with an indigenous people from the Canadian Westcoast with the difficult name Kwakwaka’wakw. They not only deliverd their art and artifacts, their stories and images regarding sustainability and nature, but they were closely involved in the first years of operation of this unique theme.
At the time of this operation attendance grew from approxm 750,000 naar 1,200,000.
